CSA-approved importers and carriers must use a registered driver to carry CSA-eligible goods into Canada and to use the CSA clearance process.
Commercial drivers must be approved under the Free and Secure Trade (FAST) program.
Apply to FAST
Provides dedicated lanes to members, where available, in Canada and the United States, as well as accelerated customs and immigration processing.
Using the FAST lane
Approved drivers may use the FAST lane en route to the United States if the following conditions are met:
- the importer is a PIP member or FAST-approved
- the carrier is a PIP member or FAST-approved
- all goods on-board are CSA-eligible goods (if using the CSA clearance only)
Drivers may also use the FAST lane when returning to Canada when:
- there are no goods on board
- the driver is FAST-approved
- the carrier is a PIP member or FAST-approved
