What is a casual refund

A casual refund is a refund for goods that are imported for personal use, not for business, resale or work (industrial, institutional, etc.). These goods are called “casual goods.”

In this case, it means getting back some or all of the duties and taxes you paid for goods you imported into Canada.

You can request a casual refund if you paid duties and taxes on casual goods and meet certain conditions under the Customs Act.
