Apply for a security screening: Step 4. After you apply

1. The hiring official you list on your application will approve or reject your request
2. If your request is approved, a regional security officer will contact you to complete digital fingerprints
3. CBSA's Personnel Security Screening Unit will conduct the security screening, which includes a:
   • financial inquiry
   • law enforcement inquiry using fingerprints
   • CBSA internal databases check (applies to applicants and employees of the CBSA only)
   • Canadian Security and Intelligence Service (CSIS) security assessment (for secret or top secret security clearance only)
4. If CBSA approves your status or clearance, the hiring official will contact you to sign and submit a security briefing package and final paperwork
