Notice of extension of investigations: Steel Strapping (SS 2025 IN)

Ottawa,

The Canada Border Services Agency has today extended the preliminary phase of the investigations respecting the alleged injurious dumping of steel strapping originating in or exported from the People’s Republic of China (China), the Republic of Korea, the Republic of Türkiye and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the alleged injurious subsidizing of steel strapping originating in or exported from China.

The Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary stage of the investigations shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, due to the complexity or novelty of the issues presented in the investigations, number of persons involved, and difficulty of obtaining satisfactory evidence, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.

Consequently, the decision to issue preliminary determinations or to terminate the investigations with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before September 24, 2025. A revised investigation schedule is now available.
