  • 149 million courier shipments

  • $47.5 billion total duties and taxes collected (customs duties, Special Import Measures Act [SIMA] duties, GST and excise taxes)
  • Commercial by the numbers:
    • Highway: 5,038,595 trucks
    • Air: 3,817,803 shipments
    • Marine: 2,012,946 containers
    • Rail: 1,815,786 cars

Food, plant and animal

A total of 3,668 Agriculture and Agri-Food Administrative Monetary Penalties (AAAMP) issued for food, plant and animal import violations totaling $2,830,200 in penalties.

Enforcement

  • A total of 52,238 seizuresFootnote 3, including:
    • 659 seizures for a total of 833 firearms seized
    • 8,263 seizures for a total of 17,771 weapons seized
    • 31,688 illegal drugs seizures
      • Cocaine (including coca leaves, coca paste, cocaine and cocaine crack): 4,725 kilograms
      • Heroin: 128 kilograms
      • Fentanyl: 2.8 kilograms
      • Methamphetamine (including methamphetamine and methamphetamine-ICE): 2,397 kilograms
      • Other opioids (including opium, methadone, morphine and morphine base): 1,144 kilograms
      • Other drugs, narcotics and chemicals: 28,206 kilograms (this number excludes cocaine, heroin, fentanyl, methamphetamine, other opioids and cannabis)
    • 16,029 cannabis seizures totaling 46,608 kilograms
    • 3,457 tobacco seizures totaling 803,652 kilograms
  • 99 child pornography seizures
  • 1,590 stolen vehicles intercepted and detained
  • 22,108 removals of inadmissible persons
    • 1,010 of which were subject to a serious inadmissibility (national security, war crimes or human rights violations, organized crime, and criminality).
  • 74,691 triaged refugee claims
    • including 5,595 interventions or appeals
