The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) wishes to advise you of amendments to the Departmental Consolidation of the Customs Tariff (Tariff), found in Tariff Amendment package T2011-3. These changes result from Orders in Council P.C. 2011-1236 and P.C. 011-1237.

They reflect technical changes and grammatical corrections in chapters 08, 09, 15, 20, 29, 59, 69, 84, 85, 87, 98 and 99 of the English version of the Tariff and chapters 05, 08, 15, 20, 27, 29, 40, 41, 52, 54, 55, 56, 59, 60, 63, 76, 78, 84, 85, 87, 88, 98 and 99 of the French version. The specific items changed and the effective date for each will be found in the Summary to follow shortly.

The revised "PDF format; By Chapter — T2011-3" is available on the Customs Tariff page of the CBSA's website. The "Microsoft Access® format" and the "PDF format; Complete Tariff — T2011-3" files will be available shortly.

Tariff Classification Assistance

If you have questions regarding the tariff classification of goods, rates of duty, permits or other CBSA programs please contact the Border Information Service at 1-800-461-9999 available free of charge throughout Canada; press zero to speak directly with an agent. The CBSA also offers advance rulings for tariff classification which provide binding, written advice as to the classification of a product.

The Harmonized System Explanatory Notes and Compendium of Classification Opinions are reference material copyrighted by the World Customs Organization (WCO) that may be purchased from licensed WCO sales agents in each country or from the WCO Bookstore. In Canada, purchases may be made through McMullin Publishers Limited.
