Cargo Control Number (CCN)

Enter a reference identifier number (without spaces), assigned by you the carrier or freight forwarder, that uniquely identifies the transport document to the CBSA. The number must begin with the CBSA-issued Carrier Code (already hard-coded in the field), followed by a unique reference number assigned by the carrier or freight forwarder. The Cargo Control Number (CCN) must be a minimum of 5 characters to a maximum of 25. Characters are defined as numbers between 0-9, letters between a-z and dashes (-). If release document(s) are being prepared, please ensure the CCN for this Highway Cargo Document matches the equivalent release document(s).

Example: if the shipment’s bar-coded PARS number presented by the carrier at the border is "1234PARS56789", then the CCN electronically transmitted prior to arrival must also be "1234PARS56789". It is not required to embed the letters "PARS" into a PARS number, however if a carrier does embed letters into the PARS number presented at the border, he must also do so in the Highway Cargo Document.
