Future Women in Law Enforcement (FWILE) is an interactive workshop designed to show participants their individual potential for success in policing and border services careers. It provides opportunities for women interested in law enforcement to be mentored by strong, positive female role models.
The first FWILE workshop was launched as a mentorship component of the 52nd annual International Association of Women Police Training Conference, when Winnipeg hosted more than 500 delegates from 51 countries in 2014. This workshop drew upon the momentum of the international conference to promote law enforcement career opportunities to more than 100 local women.
Based on the success of the inaugural event – and on Canadian law enforcement organizations’ shared goal of empowering women to succeed within their ranks – FWILE evolved into a standalone, hands-on workshop.
FWILE is a joint outreach initiative supported by Canadian law enforcement organizations including the Canada Border Services Agency, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Calgary Police Service, and Winnipeg Police Service.
FWILE is intended to foster the development of core competencies that prospective law enforcement employers are looking for, and to encourage women to pursue this career path.
Applications for the Future Women in Law Enforcement workshop are now closed.
