Service Standard for Carrier Code Application Process

Service Description:

This service allows for application of a carrier code to establish identity and is required to conduct business with the CBSA.

Service Standard:

The CBSA will strive to issue a carrier code to those who meet carrier code eligibility requirements within 3 business days. The application will not be processed nor will the service standard commence until all required information and supporting documents are received.

Performance Target:

The CBSA will strive to meet the service standard 85% of the time.

Performance Results:

For the fiscal year April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020, the CBSA will report performance results on June 1, 2020.

For the fiscal year April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019, the CBSA processed 3,154 applications to issue a carrier code and met the service standard 19.7% of the time.

Performance Results – Previous Years:

For the fiscal year April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018, the CBSA processed 2,716 applications to issue a carrier code and met the service standard 71.11% of the time.

For the fiscal year April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017, the CBSA processed 3,338 applications to issue a carrier code and met the service standard 76.24% of the time.

For the fiscal year April 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016, the CBSA processed 4,022 applications to issue a carrier code and met the service standard 30.66% of the time.

For the fiscal year April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015, the CBSA processed 3,107 applications to issue a carrier code and met the service standard 99.25% of the time.

For the fiscal year April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014, the CBSA processed 3,967 applications to issue a carrier code and met the service standard 100% of the time.
