Partners in Protection (PIP)
There are no monetary penalties associated with the PIP program but members must meet and remain compliant with the program’s requirements to maintain their membership status.
Companies may have their membership suspended or cancelled if they are found to have contravened the Customs Act or any other act of Parliament, or if they are no longer compliant with PIP program requirements or their roles or responsibilities as PIP members.
Appeals to CBSA decisions on membership matters must be filed in writing within specified timelines to the PIP appeals committee. This committee, which consists of three directors, will hear appeals and respond to the member with its determination within 60 days.
