In October 2010, the office of the Senior Officer for Disclosure for the CBSA received a complaint that an employee had received funds from a company with whom the CBSA had a service contract. A formal investigation was launched, and it was determined that the original allegation was founded. In addition, it was determined that the employee had breached the CBSA's Electronic Network Use Policy.
Prior to the findings of the investigation being known, the employee left the public service. Had the individual remained an employee of the CBSA, they would have been subject to discipline of a severe nature, up to and including dismissal. These facts were conveyed to the individual in a formal written response.
