Transcript

On screen the NEXUS logo appears with the title text: NEXUS: Did you know? In the background, a jumbo jet flies across the sky overhead. Music plays throughout the video in the background.

Scenes from the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport showing: the outside of the arrivals area with cars and a shuttle; people walking through the airport with their luggage; a close up of people standing at the primary inspection booths with border officers inside; busy line ups of people waiting to clear the Canadian border.

During the rest of the video, a small NEXUS logo shows in the bottom left of the screen. The background music is faint.

A border services officer stands at the entrance of the NEXUS members' express line. The express line is empty. In the background, a crowd of travellers in the regular customs line moves slowly towards the primary inspection booths with the other border officers.

Announcer; heard off screen, in a voice-over directed at the officer on screen:] In your opinion as a border services officer, what are some of the advantages of the NEXUS Program?

Officer, speaking at the camera:] Well, as you can see from the big line up behind me, if you have NEXUS you can go just straight on through. There is no one in line up right now. So, there is definitely that advantage. If you are time constrained … if you are a frequent traveller.

The next sequence shows various NEXUS members providing impromptu comments in an interview with the off-screen Announcer as they transit through the airport's customs area. Each member stands in the same spot the officer was, with the line ups in the background. The Announcer questions one member at time.

[Announcer:] What are the advantages of the NEXUS Program?

[Member 1:] I would say the biggest advantage is consistency. So, I know when I get up and I have to get through the airport and catch a flight I know that I can leave at a certain time. And I'll be through the gate, through customs in a fixed amount of time. It's not a variable anymore.

[Member 2, speaking in French with English subtitles:] For me the advantage is the time required to go through customs. It's faster than waiting in the main line.

[Member 3:] Getting through the lines really quickly is the best advantage for sure. And, just being welcomed to Canada I think really quickly is nice as well.

[Announcer:] What do you like most about being a NEXUS member?

[Member 4:] It's very easy to use, user friendly. Very practical, … useful. Makes a good feeling that they have trusted us and we have trusted them.

[Member 5:] I think the speed of passing through the customs. I think that's definitely a good selling point.

[Member 6:] I love the way it gets me through the lines at the airport. And, gives me fast access at security as well as at the egress.

A crowd waits in line in front of the border clearance booths. Announcer voice-over: Do you use NEXUS in other modes of travel?

[Member 7:] Apart from just coming in through customs that's all the understanding I have of where it can be used.

[Announcer:] Would you recommend NEXUS to your friends and family?

[Member 10:] Absolutely. It's the best fifty dollars I've ever spent.

[Member 2, speaking in French with English subtitles:] Indeed, we have a travel agency and we will certainly recommend it to our customers.

[Member 11]: Yes, sure I would certainly recommend it because I think it facilitates the process for both myself as a traveler and also for the Border Agency.

[Announcer:] Who should apply for NEXUS?

[Member 6:] Anybody who does consistent travel especially to the US.

[Member 12:] I have sisters that are travelling from Canada to the United States and I think it just makes the process of moving back and forth a lot easier. And I am looking forward to using it the next time also.
