Canada Bound Rainbow Bridge NEXUS Lane Closing January 23, 2011

Niagara Falls, Ontario, January 5, 2011 – The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) today announced that following a review of its NEXUS services in the Niagara-Fort Erie Region, the Canada-bound Rainbow Bridge NEXUS lane will be closing, effective January 23, 2011. This will enable the CBSA to concentrate on delivering its services to the wide range of other travellers using the Rainbow Bridge. NEXUS members can continue to use the NEXUS-only lanes at the Whirlpool Bridge.

The NEXUS-only Whirlpool Bridge is a convenient alternative

  • Located less than two kilometres from the Rainbow Bridge
  • Open 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Quickest, most reliable and cost effective way to cross the border — see the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission Web site for more information.

NEXUS enhancements in 2011 include:

  • A second NEXUS lane at the Peace Bridge during peak commuter periods (January 2011)
  • A NEXUS lane at the newly-constructed Queenston Bridge Canadian Plaza (February 2011)

NEXUS members are reminded that a NEXUS card can be used as a proof of identity and as a document which denotes citizenship in all lanes and in the marine mode. When using regular lanes, however, program privileges are not applicable.
