Winnipeg, Manitoba, March 19, 2010 – At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 19, Mohammed Said Jama was arrested on an outstanding immigration warrant by Canada Border Services Agency and Winnipeg Police Service.
"I would like to congratulate the CBSA and Winnipeg Police Service on their cooperative efforts in apprehending Mohamed Said Jama," said the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety. Mr. Jama has had a complete review of his removal, he's had a pre-removal risk assessment which he lost and he also appealed to the Federal Court and lost. The position of the Government remains that Mr. Jama should be removed from Canada as soon as possible."
Jama was arrested without incident and is being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
The CBSA is continuing in its efforts to ensure this individual is successfully removed from Canada.
