CBSA officers seize cocaine at Calgary Airport

Calgary, Alberta, April 26, 2005 - Officers of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) have seized 726 grams of cocaine worth an estimated $90,000.

On April 17, 2005, CBSA officers at Calgary International Airport discovered the cocaine hidden inside a suitcase. A 21 year-old Calgary man faces one charge under the Customs Act and one charge under the Criminal Code.

Since April 2004, the CBSA officers in Calgary have made 237 drug seizures and kept almost $650,000 worth of drugs off Canadian streets.

CBSA officers are Canada's first line of defence in protecting Canada from illegal drugs and other contraband. The CBSA is committed to protecting Canada's borders and keeping our communities safe.
