Niagara Falls, Ontario, October 12, 2005 - The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today that an American citizen has been charged under the Customs Act for not reporting prohibited and restricted weapons.
On October 6, 2005, an individual from Savannah, Georgia, attempted to enter Canada at the Rainbow Bridge. During a secondary examination of the individual's vehicle, CBSA officers found an undeclared 9-mm handgun and an automatic rifle. The weapons were seized with no terms of release and the individual was refused entry into Canada.
CBSA officers are Canada's first line of defence in protecting Canada from illegal weapons and other contraband. The CBSA works closely with other law-enforcement agencies to protect Canada's borders and keep our communities safe.
