Cross-border commercial trucks in southeastern Saskatchewan affected due to flooding

Regina, Saskatchewan, June 23, 2011 – As a result of overland flooding in parts of Saskatchewan and North Dakota, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is diverting all commercial truck traffic away from North Portal, SK/Portal, ND.

Commercial vehicles should enter Canada at the following ports of entry:

  • Regway, SK/Raymond, ND (24 hours)
  • Boissevain, MB/Dunseith, ND (24 hours)

The CBSA is also advising travellers to verify travel plans prior to departure as highway closures throughout the affected area are impacting access to several ports of entry, including:

  • North Portal, SK
  • Estevan, SK
  • Northgate, SK
  • Torquay, SK
  • Carievale, SK

CBSA management is working closely with emergency officials to ensure minimal delays to travellers and commercial vehicles during this time.

Please see the Saskatchewan Highway Web site at www.highways.gov.sk.ca or call 1-888-335-7623. U.S.-bound travellers should verify highway conditions in North Dakota at www.dot.nd.gov.

The CBSA will advise when the affected ports of entry resume normal operations.
