Description
This is a wood chip burner to heat buildings like greenhouses. The burner or gasifier is coupled to a boiler to produce hydronic heat for a tomato greenhouse. The wood chip fuel is roasted in a refractory antechamber to the point where the volatile wood gas is released into an oxygenated environment. Once released, the gas travels through the burner where it is superheated for complete combustion.
Analysis and Justification
Heading 84.16 of the Harmonized System covers “furnace burners for liquid fuel, for pulverized solid fuel or for gas; mechanical stokers, including their mechanical grates, mechanical ash dischargers and similar appliances”. Within that heading, subheading 8416.20 provides for “other furnace burners, including combination burners”.
Decision
In accordance with General Interpretative Rule 1 of the Harmonized System, the wood chip burner is classified under classification number 8416.20.00.10 of the Customs Tariff.
