These are plated metal purse holders designed to suspend purses from tables, ledges, counters and similar surfaces, so that they remain free from possible contaminants on the floor. The holder has a hook-like body comprised of four jointed segments held together with screws, and a circular-shaped head portion. The head and body are held together with a metal pin. The head portion has a flat base of rubber and a decorative jewel made of glass on its top surface. When not in use, the hanger rolls up into a circle, the body curling around the head. When in use, the head of the holder lays flat on the table and grips the tabletop, while the body hangs under the table and holds the purse.

Subheading 8302.50 of the Harmonized System provides for “hat-racks, hat-pegs, brackets and similar fixtures”. Explanatory Note (G) to heading 83.02 describes such fixtures.

In accordance with General Interpretative Rule 1 of the Harmonized System, the metal purse holder is classified under classification number 8302.50.00.90 of the Customs Tariff.
