  • Over 94.9 million travellers processed:
    • Highway 71 million
    • Air 20 million

  • Over 37 million vehicles processed
  • Over 26 million courier shipments
  • 571,299 courier shipments examined
  • The CBSA collected:
    • over $3 billion in import duties
    • nearly $24.9 billion in GST
    • $52 million in provincial sales tax under authorized agreements
  • Collected trade statistics on trade goods valued at over $2.1 billion per day
  • Over $355 billion worth of commercial import releases (2004 calendar year)
  • Nearly $412 billion worth of exports (2004 calendar year)
  • Handled over 12 million commercial releases

Free Trade Agreements

  • The CBSA administered 4 Free Trade Agreements:
    • NAFTA,
    • Canada-Chile,
    • Canada-Israel,
    • Canada-Costa Rica,
    • as well as the Least Developed Country (LDC) Initiative.
  • Verified compliance with Free Trade Agreements by completing 47 exporter audits.

Anti-Dumping and Countervailing:

  • A total of 30 anti-dumping and countervailing measures are in place.
  • New anti-dumping duties were imposed on 3 products:
    • certain wood slats,
    • stainless steel wire and
    • fasteners
  • New countervailing duties were imposed on 2 products:
    • certain stainless steel wire, and
    • fasteners

Technical Assistance and Capacity Building:

A total of 8 trade-related technical assistance and capacity building missions were conducted in support of Canadian competitiveness.

Trade Disputes:

The CBSA responded to over 4,500 disputes of trade administration decisions.

Review of Enforcement Actions:

Responded to over 4,500 requests for review of enforcement actions or appeals to the Federal Court.
